The latest MTN versions of this popular model now use the unique Opticron N type multi-coating applied to the objective lens. This coating helps increase light transmission while improving image contrast over previous models. In conjunction with HDF eyepieces*, these IF-2 MTN
models provide unparalleled levels of resolution and viewing comfort in their price range.

Classic IF-2 MTN models are constructed using a tough and resilient alloy and assembled using water resistant 'o' ring sealing and shockproof prism mountings for total reliability in tough field conditions.

Lightweight [IF-2 75 is only 880g], the vast range of eyepieces include wide angle, long eyerelief and variable magnification to cater for a multitude of uses, while a Photoadapter+eyepiece combination Telephoto allows for the easy conversion to a 900mm Telephoto lens.
The flexibility incorporated into the IF-2 MTN series means that whether you want straight through or 45 degree angle viewing, there is a body and eyepiece combination to match your needs.

EYEPIECES
A wide range of eyepieces are available for use with Classic Fieldscopes. Choosing the best eyepiece is often confusing but making the right choice will depend on price and application. It is important to remember that the eyepiece is an integral part of the whole set-up and opting for a lower quality lens will make a difference to the overall image quality derived from the fieldscope.
HDF EYEPIECES (except 40862) CLICK FOR IMAGES
The preferred choice for quality and viewing comfort, HDF eyepieces have large dia. eyelenses and provide 'walk-in' field of vision. All eyepieces feature long eyerelief for full field of view with or without spectacles and fixed magnification models are wide angle. Eyepieces in table marked * have a twist-type eyecup.

HR EYEPIECES CLICK FOR IMAGES
Good choice as either supplementary eyepiece in combination with HDF or single eyepiece for the more value conscious requiring long eyerelief as all eyepieces offer full field of view with spectacles. Eyepieces in table marked * have a twist-type eyecup.

Note. Eyepiece adapters are required for fitting and are supplied with new models.

TELEPHOTOGRAPHY
Telephotography, (taking high magnification photographs) is now easier then ever to enjoy using Opticron telescopes in conjunction with either D-SLR / SLR cameras, digital compact cameras or camcorders.
Classic Telescopes can easily be converted into a long focal length telephoto lens for photography using an SLR camera [35mm film or Digital]. Equivalent focal length when using the recommended eyepiece is 900mm/f.12*
To convert the instrument you will need:

User Instructions
To convert the instrument to a Telephoto lens firstly remove viewing eyepiece.
Make sure correct eyepiece [40812C] is fitted securely into telescope body.
Push internal thread of the Photoadapter over the eyepiece and screw clockwise onto
external ‘eyepiece cover’ thread. Screw extension tube onto Photoadapter.
Attach appropriate T mount to external thread of extension tube and then
attach SLR camera body onto T mount.
Note. If you find the camera is at an odd angle when attached - the twin rings on the T mount can be adjusted to bring the camera into line. For best results use 400 or 800 ASA film and a cable release or remote.
* This is an approximate figure based on 35mm SLR cameras. Digital SLR cameras use
different size CCD's to create the image and as such an equivalent telephoto lens
conversion figure must be calculated separately.
