ES FIELDSCOPES
ES 80 GA SD/45, ES 80 GA ED/45, ES 100 GA ED/45
2004-2006 models

The ES range sets a benchmark in affordable high definition Fieldscopes. Available in three variants: 80mm, 80mm ED and 100mm ED, the models are designed with one aim in mind; to provide 'best in class' optical performance and value.
The reduction of almost all visible chromatic aberration at 60x magnification on the base model ES 80 GA SD and sets the standard for definition and tonal quality that is successfully built upon with the more advanced ES 80 GA ED and ES 100 GA ED models.
Weight is kept to a minimum by the selective use of tough plastics and aluminum components and the models are surprisingly well balanced for effective field use on a tripod.
All three are fully compatible with SDL, HDF and HR eyepieces providing an exiting array of viewing options of 20x to 100x (80mm models) and 30x to 134x (100mm).
Other features include full rain waterproof construction, a retractable lens hood, conveniently positioned wide band focusing wheel and rotating tripod sleeve to enable maximum versatility in Hides or viewing from a sitting or prone position.
Each model can also be converted for use with SLR cameras for Telephotography (see below) and are supplied complete with a comprehensive 30 year guarantee.

ES 80 GA SD/45
ES 80 GA SD/45
Fully multi-coated and complete with a BK7 prism unit, the ES 80 GA SD/45 demands serious consideration for anybody interested in an 80mm fieldscope. Image texture is softer than sister ED model but the instrument deals competently with a range of interspersed colours in varying light conditions combined with accurate focusing and a welcome lack of colour distortion.

ES 80 GA ED/45
ES 80 GA ED/45
Since its launch in 2001 the ES 80 GA ED /45 has become one of the most popular birding 'scopes in the UK . The ED (extra low dispersion glass) element within the objective lens system virtually eliminates the distorting effects of chromatic aberration at magnifications over 35x. To benefit from this level of performance in a body retailing under £500 has caught the imagination of thousands of birdwatchers wanting vibrant 'true to life' images reproduced consistently across the magnification
range. The model is most often seen with HDF eyepieces 20-60x and 32xWW.

ES 100 GA ED/45
ES 100 GA ED/45
The advantages of a 100mm diameter objective lens cannot be overstated when viewing at magnifications over 50x. Having a surface are 1.5x that of an 80mm OG Fieldscope, the ES 100 GA ED is easily able to outperform similarly specified 80mm ED and fluorite models delivering brighter images with a higher resolving power.
For terrestrial use better definition and higher colour contrast mean more accurate and more enjoyable long range viewing. Preferred HDF eyepieces include a 30xWW and 42xWW plus the 27-80x zoom.
For Astronomy, the ES 100's versatility as a compact F650mm 4 inch refractor with erected image viewing should not be underestimated. Magnification options for this application include 6mm and 5mm long eyerelief eyepieces delivering 107x and 134x respectively.

EYEPIECES
A wide range of eyepieces are available for use with ES Fieldscopes.
Choosing the best eyepiece is often confusing but making the right choice will depend on price and application. It is important to remember that the eyepiece is an integral part of the whole set-up and opting for a lower quality lens will make a difference to the overall image quality derived from the fieldscope.
SDL EYEPIECE CLICK FOR IMAGE
An F24 - F8, 5-group 8-element 'super' zoom, the 40935 SDL has been designed to maximise the performance gains inherent in Opticron ED objective lens fieldscopes at higher magnifications. Offering an optimum ratio between field of view and resolution, the main viewing characteristics of the SDL eyepiece are superior cross-field definition at all magnifications coupled with exceptional viewing comfort. Mechanically the eyepiece is waterproof, uses the M41.5 collar thread attachment, features a 90° rotation between high and low magnification settings plus a rotating eyecup that can be positioned to match individual needs. Supplied in soft padded case.
